Inspired by one of the most popular dishes in North India, our Matar Paneer stew is a curry-style dish that features vibrant green peas in a rich, spiced tomato gravy. Our plant-based version replaces the paneer, a traditional Indian-style cottage cheese, with perfectly roasted tofu that replicates the taste and texture while adding a rich source of protein. This dish is not only packed with flavor, but also with antioxidants thanks to authentic spices like cumin seeds, garam masala, ginger root, garlic, and turmeric. While our Matar Paneer is a super-star on its own, it pairs beautifully with a serving of roti, naan, or rice.

Performance

Full-spectrum Protein:

While the green peas are an authentic protein source in this dish, we’ve upped the protein content by replacing traditional paneer with roasted protein. With 26 grams of protein, the Mater Paneer will leave you satisfied while helping you crush your protein goals.

Leucine:

Leucine is a branch-chained amino acid that promotes muscle-protein synthesis after exercise, and can sometimes be limited on a plant-based diet. Thanks to high quality protein sources in this spicy, earthy dish, two servings will give you back 1.4 grams of leucine.

Iron:

A pouch of the Mater Paneer (a hearty two servings) provides 30% of the daily value of iron thanks to functional ingredients like tofu, green peas, and cashews. Iron is the essential mineral required in the formation of red blood cells that transport oxygen to every single cell in your body.

Vitamin C:

When it comes to plant-based foods, all iron is found in its non-heme form which needs help from Vitamin C to be absorbed into the body. Tomatoes, an excellent source of Vitamin C, create the foundation for the rich gravy in our Paneer and provides over 3x the daily value.

Antioxidants:

Authentic spices like garam masala, cumin seeds, garlic, ginger root, and turmeric bring an earthy, spiced flavor to the dish and also provide an impressive amount of antioxidants to reduce inflammation. Antioxidants accomplish this by neutralizing radical oxygen species (or ROS) which may help you recover faster after a workout.

How To Prepare

Keep frozen. To prepare, thaw pouch in refrigerator. Do NOT microwave pouch. Pour contents into pot and heat until hot on stovetop (or 165°); or microwave in microwave-safe container until hot. Once defrosted, use within 5 days.
